The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will on Saturday commence its Enlightenment and Awareness (BITA) programme for intending pilgrims participating in the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Malam Sa’adu Hassan, disclosed this in an interview with Hajj Gazette, saying the programme would cover major aspects of Hajj preparations during the two to three months preceding the Ramadan break.
According to him, the Board intends to use the period to provide comprehensive enlightenment to intending pilgrims on the religious obligations, procedures and practical requirements of the annual pilgrimage.
The programme is expected to familiarise prospective pilgrims with essential aspects of Hajj, particularly the rites they must perform in Saudi Arabia and the responsibilities associated with undertaking the spiritual journey.
Hassan explained that the enlightenment exercise would run for the planned period before activities are suspended for the Ramadan break.

The initiative forms part of the Board’s preparations for the 2027 Hajj, with emphasis on equipping intending pilgrims with the knowledge required to perform the pilgrimage in accordance with Islamic teachings.
The BITA programme is an important component of Hajj preparation, as it provides an opportunity for intending pilgrims to receive guidance on the religious and practical dimensions of the journey before their departure.
Through the sessions, the Board aims to improve pilgrims’ understanding of the pilgrimage and prepare them for the demands of the Hajj exercise.
The commencement of the programme also signals the beginning of a more intensive phase of preparations by the Gombe State pilgrims’ agency as it works towards the successful participation of the state’s contingent in the 2027 Hajj.
