2027 Hajj: Ghana Opens Medical Clearance for Prospective Pilgrims
By Abdulrazaq Auwal
Intending Ghanaian pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj have begun the mandatory medical clearance process, with authorities urging applicants to complete screening early as the pilgrimage visa application window approaches its January deadline.
The exercise, organised by the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) under the Ghana Hajj Board, commenced on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Ummah Medical Centre in Jisonaayili, Tamale.
The national exercise is being conducted through a staggered schedule across designated regional screening centres, allowing prospective pilgrims to undergo medical assessment ahead of the visa processing period.
The early commencement is linked to the expected closure of the 2027 Hajj visa application window in early January, making timely medical fitness clearance a key requirement for pilgrims seeking to complete their travel documentation.
Each prospective pilgrim is required to pay GH¢650 (N73,244) for the compulsory medical screening.

The authorities have also directed applicants to present a valid international passport and passport number at their designated screening centres.
Prospective pilgrims travelling through accredited Hajj agents are required to ensure that their personal details have been uploaded to the dedicated 2027 Hajj medical screening portal.
They have also been advised to contact their respective agents for their assigned screening dates and appointment times.
Those making direct arrangements for the pilgrimage are expected to coordinate their appointments with the Ghana Hajj Board Secretariat.
The screening forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2027 Hajj and is intended to ensure that prospective pilgrims meet the required health and medical conditions before proceeding with the visa and other travel formalities.
With the visa processing deadline drawing closer, pilgrims have been advised to complete their medical screening within the designated schedule to avoid delays that could affect subsequent stages of their Hajj arrangements.
