2026 Hajj: Why We Organized Pre-Hajj Workshop Ahead of Airlift – Niger Board

The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has outlined rationale behind its one-day pre-Hajj workshop, positioning the initiative as a critical operational step toward delivering a seamless and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj exercise.
The workshop, held Thursday at the Women Multipurpose Hall, Old Secretariat in Minna, convened a cross-section of key stakeholders, including security agencies, Islamic scholars, board officials, and Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers, all of whom play frontline roles in managing and guiding pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.
Jibrin Usman Kodo, Public Relations Officer of the Board, disclosed this in a statement.
In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, said the annual engagement strengthens institutional capacity by equipping facilitators with core Hajj operational knowledge and insights into emerging developments shaping the pilgrimage ecosystem.
Represented by the Director of Administration, Malam Ado Bello, the Executive Secretary emphasized that the workshop also serves as a platform to align operational staff with policy directives issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), particularly in areas of coordination, compliance, and post-Hajj evaluation.
He assured stakeholders that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free Hajj operation, while urging participants to actively engage in the sessions to optimize outcomes.
In his remarks, the Amirul Hajj for 2026 and Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, underscored the importance of the workshop, describing it as a foundational exercise for operational success.
He called on participants to pay close attention to the deliberations and leverage the knowledge shared to enhance service delivery.
The workshop featured a comprehensive agenda covering both spiritual and logistical dimensions of the pilgrimage. Sessions included Manasik (Hajj rites), visitation protocols in Madinah, and frameworks for effective field coordination.
Key federal agencies, including the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, delivered technical presentations emphasizing regulatory compliance, border procedures, and security protocols, reinforcing the need for inter-agency synergy.
An interactive segment enabled participants to interrogate operational challenges, exchange field experiences, and develop practical solutions, thereby enhancing readiness across all touchpoints.
The Board reiterated that the pre-Hajj workshop is part of its broader institutional commitment to adequately prepare, guide, and support intending pilgrims from Niger State to undertake the pilgrimage with confidence and ease.
