2026 Hajj: NAHCON Begins Preparations for June 3 Return Airlift

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced preparations for the return airlift of Nigerian pilgrims from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with operations scheduled to begin on June 3, 2026.
The commission said arrangements have been finalized in collaboration with state pilgrims’ welfare boards, airline operators and relevant Saudi authorities to ensure a smooth and orderly return of pilgrims following the completion of the 2026 Hajj rites.
This was disclosed by the NAHCON’s Director of Training and Research, Professor Abubakar Abubakar, during a courtesy visit to the Kano State Amirul Hajj, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, in Makkah.
He explained that the return schedule was carefully designed to minimize delays and congestion at airports while guaranteeing the safety and comfort of pilgrims throughout the exercise.
Professor Abubakar also stated that adequate logistics and operational measures had been put in place to facilitate hitch-free transportation of pilgrims back to Nigeria.
As part of the preparations, pilgrims across various state camps in Makkah and Mina are being sensitized on departure procedures, luggage requirements, travel documentation and flight schedules ahead of the commencement of the airlift.
NAHCON urged pilgrims to remain disciplined, patient and fully compliant with laid-down guidelines to ensure seamless movement during the return operations.
The commission further commended the cooperation and support received from state officials, service providers and other stakeholders involved in the 2026 Hajj exercise, describing this year’s operation as one of the most coordinated in recent times.
Meanwhile, many Nigerian pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place and prayed for safe journeys and successful reunions with their families upon their return home.
