2026 Hajj: Kebbi Begins Statewide Medical Screening Ahead of Pilgrimage

The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has commenced a statewide medical screening exercise for intending pilgrims as part of preparations for the 2026 Hajj, reinforcing the government’s focus on health compliance and operational readiness ahead of the pilgrimage.
The Director of Da’awa of the agency, Imam Aminu Hassan Birnin Kebbi, disclosed this while briefing journalists in his office on behalf of the Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Faruk Aliyu Yaro Enabo.
He said the screening exercise is designed to ensure that all prospective pilgrims are medically fit and adequately prepared for the physical demands of the Hajj.
According to him, the exercise will be conducted across seven zones covering all Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, using a decentralized approach to improve access and efficiency.
He explained that Zone A, comprising Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, Gwandu and Bunza LGAs, alongside officials of the agency, will be screened from 26 to 29 January 2026 at the Hajj Camp in Birnin Kebbi.
Zone B, which includes Argungu and Augie LGAs, is scheduled for 30 and 31 January 2026 at the Argungu Local Government Secretariat, while Zone C, made up of Yauri and Ngaski LGAs, will undergo screening on 1 and 2 February 2026 at the Yauri Local Government Secretariat.
Similarly, Zone D, comprising Zuru, Fakai, Rijau, Danko–Wasagu and Sakaba LGAs, is slated for 3 and 4 February 2026 at the Zuru Local Government Secretariat.
The screening for Zone E, covering Jega, Aliero and Maiyama LGAs, will hold on 5 and 6 February 2026 at the Jega Local Government Secretariat, while Zone F, made up of Suru and Dandi LGAs, is scheduled for 7 and 8 February 2026 at the Dakingari Local Government Secretariat.
The exercise will conclude with Zone G, comprising Koko/Besse, Bagudo and Shanga LGAs, on 9 and 10 February 2026 at the Koko/Besse Local Government Secretariat.
Imam Birnin Kebbi urged all intending pilgrims to strictly adhere to their designated screening dates, stressing that medical clearance is a critical requirement for participation in the 2026 Hajj.
He added that the agency would not compromise on health and safety standards, noting that the early screening exercise aligns with national and international guidelines aimed at safeguarding pilgrims and ensuring a smooth Hajj operation.
