2026 Hajj: Kano State Kicks Off Hajj Talk and Enlightenment Programme

As part of ongoing preparations for the 2026 Hajj, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has launched a structured Hajj Talk and Enlightenment programme aimed at educating and sensitising intending pilgrims on Hajj rites, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
The programme was inaugurated at the Kano School for Arabic Studies by the Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, who urged intending pilgrims to strictly observe the rules and regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that discipline and compliance are critical to the success of the pilgrimage.
Speaking during the event, the Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, disclosed that Kano State recorded 3,611 pilgrims and had successfully remitted all required payments to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) without incurring any outstanding liabilities. He said the development reflects the state’s commitment to early planning and financial responsibility.
Also speaking, the Director of Public Enlightenment, Alhaji Murtala Lawan Sani, explained that the Hajj Talk and Enlightenment sessions would be held weekly, suspended during the month of Ramadan, and thereafter conducted daily after Ramadan until the final pre-Hajj operational test.
The initiative forms part of Nigeria’s broader national strategy to strengthen pilgrim education, ensure regulatory compliance, and guarantee a smooth and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj exercise.
