2026 Hajj: Iranian Pilgrims Commence Land Entry into Saudi Arabia April 26

Iranian pilgrims are set to begin arriving in Saudi Arabia by land from this Sunday, marking a key milestone in the build-up to the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
The development comes as international arrivals intensify, with thousands of pilgrims already entering the Kingdom by air.
The first batch of Iranian pilgrims has already arrived via Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, signaling the formal commencement of their participation in this year’s pilgrimage.
Authorities confirmed that subsequent groups will utilize land corridors, with processing underway at strategic entry points such as the Arar border crossing.
The phased arrival reflects Saudi Arabia’s logistical framework for Hajj 2026, which is expected to host over one million pilgrims from across the globe.
Officials have activated multi-channel entry systems, air, land, and sea to manage the influx efficiently while maintaining strict operational controls.
Central to this year’s arrangements is the Makkah Route Initiative, a flagship program designed to streamline immigration procedures by completing key entry requirements in pilgrims’ countries of origin.
The initiative is aimed at reducing congestion at entry points and enhancing the overall pilgrimage experience.
Health preparedness has also been elevated, particularly for Iranian pilgrims. The Iranian Red Crescent Society has deployed specialized medical teams to accompany pilgrims, citing demographic concerns.
A significant proportion of the contingent is reported to be over 70 years old, necessitating enhanced medical oversight and rapid-response capabilities throughout the journey.
Saudi authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe, orderly, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage, emphasizing coordinated efforts across border management, healthcare services, and transportation logistics.
