2026 Hajj: Gombe Board Recovers N5bn Loan, Initiates Remittance

The Gombe State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed the full recovery of the N5 billion loan advanced by the state government to secure the state’s Hajj slots for the 2026 pilgrimage.
The Executive Secretary (ES) of the Board, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan, told Hajj Gazette that the loan, which was provided by the state governor as a strategic intervention to guarantee Gombe State’s allocation for the 2026 Hajj, has been completely recovered.
According to him, the Board has already initiated the process of returning the funds to the state government, noting that its bank has been formally instructed to remit the recovered amount.
The ES stated that the development reflects the Board’s commitment to financial discipline, accountability, and responsible management of public funds, particularly in the execution of critical religious obligations.
He added that the timely recovery and remittance process underscore the Board’s resolve to justify the confidence reposed in it by the state government, while ensuring smooth preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
He assured that the state government will receive the funds upon completion of the banking transaction.
