Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, has urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to sustain its focus on pilgrim welfare as it works to improve Hajj administration and service delivery.
Ahmed, who is also the Ajiyan Katagum, gave the advice during a courtesy visit to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at the Hajj House in Abuja.
The former SGF commended the progress recorded by the Commission under Yusuf’s leadership, particularly the administration’s emphasis on prioritising the welfare and needs of Nigerian pilgrims.
He stressed that sustained attention to pilgrims remained critical to improving their overall Hajj experience and strengthening the administration of the annual pilgrimage.
Ahmed also used the visit to offer strategic guidance and encouragement to the NAHCON leadership on measures that could further advance Hajj administration and improve services provided to Nigerian pilgrims.
Responding, Yusuf described the former SGF as a key stakeholder whose extensive administrative experience and institutional knowledge could contribute significantly to the development of Nigeria’s Hajj sector.
The NAHCON chairman expressed appreciation for Ahmed’s visit and continued interest in the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims, describing his guidance as valuable to ongoing efforts to improve the Commission’s operations.
Yusuf assured the elder statesman that NAHCON would continue to draw on the experience and counsel of key stakeholders as it implements measures aimed at reforming Hajj administration and raising the standard of service delivery.
The meeting underscores the Commission’s engagement with experienced stakeholders as it seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s Hajj management and improve the experience of pilgrims.
