Visa Overstay: Saudi Hajj Minister Commends Nigeria for Improved Compliance

The Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, has commended Nigeria for significant progress in reducing cases of Umrah pilgrims overstaying their visas in the Kingdom.
The recognition comes as part of ongoing efforts to streamline visa operations and ensure compliance with Saudi rules and regulations.
Speaking during a meeting with Nigerian Umrah travel agents, Dr. Al-Rabiah acknowledged that delays in visa processing had previously been linked to issues with pilgrims exceeding their authorized stay.
He noted, however, that recent statistics show a marked decline in overstay cases among Nigerian pilgrims, reflecting improved adherence to rules and procedures.
The Minister assured agents that the Ministry would continue collaborating with relevant Saudi authorities to further address and mitigate potential challenges in future pilgrimage seasons.
