UPDATE: Gombe Pilgrims Boss Visit, Inspect Hajj Camp Ahead of Airlift

The Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan, on Saturday conducted a surprise visit to the state Hajj Camp to assess the level of preparedness ahead of the 2026 Hajj airlift.
The unscheduled visit enabled the Board’s leadership to carry out an on-the-spot evaluation of facilities and logistics, including accommodation arrangements and coordination mechanisms put in place for intending pilgrims.
This was disclosed by the Information Officer of the board, Mohammed Mohammed in a statement.
The move is part of efforts to ensure that all operational requirements are fully in place for a seamless and hitch-free exercise, with a focus on efficiency and pilgrim welfare.
Gombe State is set to commence its airlift operations on May 4 and May 5, when the first and second batches of pilgrims are scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the state government will hold a farewell ceremony on Sunday for the 965 intending pilgrims, marking the formal commencement of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
