Sokoto PWA Moves Operations to NAHCON Camp Ahead of Headquarters Overhaul, 2026 Hajj Preparations Uninterrupted
The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) has announced plans to temporarily relocate its operations to the NAHCON Hajj Transit Camp in Kasarawa, following the state government’s approval for the total renovation of the agency’s headquarters.
The development was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Head of Information and Communications of the agency, Malam Faruku Umar, who confirmed that preparations for the relocation are already in progress to allow renovation works to begin without delay.
According to the statement, the temporary move is designed to ensure that the agency’s activities continue seamlessly, especially as groundwork for the 2026 Hajj season has already commenced.
Speaking during an inspection visit to the NAHCON Hajj Transit Camp, the Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, said minor renovation works are currently ongoing at the camp to make the offices suitable and comfortable for staff use during the relocation period.
He explained that the agency has resolved to rehabilitate and upgrade existing facilities at the transit camp to create a conducive, work-friendly environment that will support productivity and effective service delivery.
Alhaji Aliyu Musa emphasized that the temporary relocation was taken in the overall interest of the agency and intending pilgrims, assuring that all statutory duties and responsibilities of the PWA would continue without disruption throughout the renovation period.
He further appealed to staff and stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation, noting that the ongoing renovation of the headquarters is a long-term investment aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening service delivery to pilgrims in the years ahead.
