Sokoto Agency Joins NAHCON Strategy Meeting on 2027 Hajj Preparations

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a successful 2027 Hajj exercise by participating in a strategic meeting convened by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to advance preparations for next year’s pilgrimage.
The meeting brought together executives of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies and Commissions from across the country to review key aspects of the 2027 Hajj exercise and strengthen coordination between NAHCON and the states.
Leading the Sokoto delegation was the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, who attended alongside the Director of Administration, Alhaji Ladan Ibrahim.
Faruku Umar, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, disclosed this in a statement.
NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, chaired the meeting and outlined the Commission’s roadmap for the successful planning and execution of the 2027 Hajj.
He emphasized the need for early preparation, effective collaboration and strict adherence to established timelines to ensure a smooth pilgrimage.
Participants deliberated on the new formula for allocating Hajj seats to states, the effective utilization of the allocated quotas, and deadlines for completing the registration of intending pilgrims.

The gathering also considered presentations from the Chairman of the Forum of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards and discussed other operational issues aimed at improving Hajj administration nationwide.
The session forms part of NAHCON’s early preparations for the 2027 Hajj, with the Commission seeking to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders and establish a coordinated framework for implementing pilgrimage activities across the country.
According to the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Board, its participation demonstrates the state’s resolve to align with NAHCON’s policies while ensuring that intending pilgrims receive adequate guidance and efficient services throughout the preparation process.
The Board noted that continued engagement with NAHCON and other state agencies will enhance planning, improve service delivery and contribute to a well-organised pilgrimage for Nigerian pilgrims participating in the 2027 Hajj exercise.
