Oyo Prepares Travel Documents for First Batch of Returning Pilgrims

Officials of the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board have commenced preparations for the return of pilgrims from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia following the successful completion of the 2026 Hajj rites.
The officials are currently coordinating the processing of passports and other travel documents for the first batch of Oyo State pilgrims scheduled to return to Nigeria as part of the ongoing post-Hajj airlift operation.
According to an update from the state’s Hajj delegation, officials at the Muhazaza office in Saudi Arabia have begun arrangements to facilitate a smooth departure process for the pilgrims.
The delegation said all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure an orderly and hitch-free return journey for the intending returnees.
The development comes as the return airlift of Nigerian pilgrims gathers momentum, with operations already underway this week following the completion of the major Hajj rituals in Makkah and its surrounding holy sites.
Hajj authorities across several Nigerian states have also intensified preparations for the return phase, including baggage screening, travel documentation, and coordination with airlines handling the airlift exercise.
The 2026 Hajj exercise witnessed the participation of thousands of Nigerian pilgrims who joined millions of Muslims from around the world in performing the annual pilgrimage.
Officials expressed optimism that the return operation would proceed smoothly and prayed for the safe journey of all pilgrims back to their respective states.
They also prayed for Allah’s acceptance of the pilgrims’ Hajj and for their safe reunion with their families and communities in Nigeria.
