The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise and fixed N7.7 million as the initial deposit for intending pilgrims from the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, announced the development in a statement issued by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Jibrin Usman Kodo on Wednesday.

He explained that the Board fixed the provisional fare at N7,700,000 per intending pilgrim pending the official announcement of the approved Hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

According to him, the Board has also set September 20, 2026, as the deadline for registration and payment, five days ahead of NAHCON’s September 25 deadline for remittance and other preparations for the pilgrimage.

Sheikh Aliyu urged intending pilgrims across the state to begin payment immediately and complete their registration before the deadline to enable the Board to make prompt remittances to NAHCON and facilitate seamless planning for the exercise.

He stressed that only individuals who are medically and mentally fit would be eligible for registration, noting that the measure aims to reduce health-related risks and ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.

The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to providing efficient, transparent and well-coordinated services to all pilgrims from Niger State.

He said the Board would continue to put in place the necessary arrangements to guarantee a hitch-free and spiritually rewarding Hajj experience for participants.

Sheikh Aliyu also called on interested Muslims across the state to take advantage of the registration window and begin preparations early for the 2027 pilgrimage.

The Board noted that early registration and payment would enhance planning and coordination of logistics, accommodation, transportation and other services required for a successful Hajj operation.
