Niger Begins Early Preparations for 2027 Hajj, Reviews 2026 Operations

The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has commenced preparations for the 2027 Hajj by holding a post-Hajj review meeting with outgoing and newly appointed Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs) to evaluate the 2026 pilgrimage and strengthen coordination ahead of the next exercise.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, convened the strategic meeting last Thursday to assess operational successes, identify challenges and draw lessons that will improve service delivery during the 2027 Hajj.
Representing the Executive Secretary, the Director of Administration, Alhaji Ado Bello, commended the outgoing APWOs for their dedication and contributions to the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations.
He also welcomed the newly appointed officers and urged them to sustain and improve on the achievements of their predecessors.

Bello directed the Board’s Finance and Operations Departments to oversee a structured handover process to ensure the smooth transfer of operational records, documents, contacts and other critical information to the incoming officers.
He stressed that preserving institutional memory through effective knowledge transfer would enhance continuity and improve the Board’s operational efficiency.
“The safety, dignity and spiritual fulfilment of our pilgrims remain the Board’s highest priority,” Bello said, adding that stronger collaboration between outgoing and incoming APWOs, effective planning and the timely implementation of lessons from the 2026 Hajj would be crucial to achieving a more successful 2027 pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, the Director of Operations, the Assistant Director of Finance and the Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary urged the officers to intensify public sensitisation on early Hajj registration, promote transparency throughout the pilgrimage process and maintain close collaboration with the Board.
The meeting ended with the Board reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, prudent resource management and the welfare of Niger State pilgrims before, during and after the Hajj.
