NAHCON Commences Preparations for 2027 Hajj Season

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has formally commenced preparations for the 1448AH/2027 Hajj exercise, directing all Hajj stakeholders across the country to begin immediate planning activities.
The Commission conveyed the directive through a circular dated June 15, 2026, and signed by its Secretary, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Ali, on behalf of the NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
According to the circular, State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, Agencies, Commissions, and licensed private tour operators must begin preparatory activities in strict compliance with the official guidelines issued by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the 1448AH/2027 Hajj season.
The Commission said the early commencement of preparations reflects its commitment to improving the coordination and management of future Hajj operations through timely planning and adherence to established procedures.
NAHCON emphasized that all Hajj managers and operators should familiarize themselves with the Saudi guidelines and begin implementing the necessary administrative and operational processes required for the next pilgrimage season.
The directive places responsibility on state Hajj authorities and licensed operators to commence activities that will ensure a smooth and well-organized 2027 Hajj exercise for Nigerian pilgrims.
The Commission has consistently advocated for early planning as a key strategy for addressing operational challenges and enhancing service delivery during Hajj operations.
By initiating preparations several months ahead, NAHCON aims to provide stakeholders with adequate time to complete registration processes, operational planning, logistical arrangements, and other requirements associated with the annual pilgrimage exercise.
The commencement of preparations for the 2027 Hajj season comes shortly after the Commission concluded the return airlift of Nigerian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia following the successful completion of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Industry observers believe the early planning process will help strengthen coordination between NAHCON, state pilgrimage agencies, private tour operators, and Saudi authorities as Nigeria prepares for another large-scale pilgrimage operation in 2027.
NAHCON urged all stakeholders to comply fully with the official preparation framework and work toward a more efficient and successful Hajj exercise in 1448AH/2027.
