The Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah has announced that the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Masjid al-Haram, now receives an average of 57,000 visitors daily as preparations for the 2026 Hajj continue across the Kingdom.

The minister disclosed the figure while highlighting the increasing flow of worshippers and pilgrims arriving in the holy city ahead of the annual pilgrimage.

The development reflects the steady rise in religious tourism and the Kingdom’s intensified efforts to manage large crowds efficiently during the Hajj season.

According to the minister, Saudi authorities have continued to strengthen operational plans, crowd management systems and pilgrim services to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors at Islam’s holiest site.

The Grand Mosque, which surrounds the Holy Kaaba, remains the focal point for millions of Muslims performing prayers, Umrah and Hajj rituals throughout the year.

The growing daily turnout underscores the scale of logistical coordination required to manage worship activities, transportation, accommodation and security within the holy precinct.

Saudi Arabia has in recent years invested heavily in expanding infrastructure and digital services around the mosque to improve the pilgrimage experience for both domestic and international visitors. Authorities have also deployed advanced monitoring and crowd-control technologies to ease movement within the mosque complex.

The announcement comes amid ongoing arrivals of pilgrims from different parts of the world for the 2026 Hajj exercise, with air travel remaining the dominant means of entry into the Kingdom.

Observers say the daily attendance figure further demonstrates the central role of Masjid al-Haram in global Islamic worship and Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to facilitating pilgrimage activities on a massive scale.
