Kebbi Distributes Umbrellas, Water to Pilgrims as Hajj Commence Amid Heat

The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has distributed umbrellas and water containers to pilgrims from the state as preparations intensify in Mina and Arafah during the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
The intervention comes as Hajj rituals commence under intense heat conditions, with authorities placing greater emphasis on the safety, hydration, and wellbeing of pilgrims performing the sacred rites.
Officials of the agency stated that the items were provided to help shield pilgrims from direct sunlight and ensure easier access to drinking water throughout the physically demanding stages of the pilgrimage.
The movement to Mina marks the beginning of one of the most significant phases of Hajj, where millions of pilgrims gather in temporary tent cities before proceeding to the plains of Arafah for the central rite of the pilgrimage.
According to the agency, the distribution of umbrellas and water containers forms part of broader welfare arrangements introduced for Kebbi pilgrims to improve comfort and reduce health-related risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
The initiative will also complement ongoing awareness campaigns that advise pilgrims to remain hydrated, avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, and strictly adhere to health and safety guidelines issued by Saudi authorities and Hajj officials.
Pilgrims from Kebbi State were preparing for their departure to Mina in groups under the supervision of officials and guides attached to the state contingent.
