Katsina Pilgrims Begin Luggage Screening Ahead of Return to Nigeria

The Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the weighing and screening of pilgrims’ luggage as part of preparations for their return to Nigeria following the successful completion of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Officials of the board began the exercise in Madinah to ensure that pilgrims comply with airline baggage regulations and to facilitate a smooth and orderly return process.
The exercise forms a key component of the final arrangements being made ahead of the pilgrims’ departure.
According to the board, the return airlift of Katsina pilgrims is scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 18, 2026, subject to flight schedules and other operational requirements.
Authorities expressed confidence in the arrangements put in place and assured pilgrims that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure a seamless journey back home.
The luggage weighing exercise allows officials to verify that baggage remains within approved limits, helping to prevent delays and complications during check-in procedures at the airport.
Pilgrims were advised to cooperate fully with officials and adhere strictly to the guidelines provided throughout the process.
The board also used the opportunity to remind pilgrims to keep their travel documents and personal belongings secure as they prepare for departure.
Officials emphasized the importance of punctuality and compliance with instructions issued by both Saudi and Nigerian authorities to ensure a hitch-free return operation.
The commencement of the exercise signals the final stage of the Hajj operation for Katsina pilgrims, many of whom have spent several weeks in the holy land performing religious rites and visiting important Islamic sites.
With preparations now in full swing, the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board expressed appreciation to the pilgrims for their cooperation and prayed for a safe and successful return journey for all participants as the homebound airlift begins later this week.
