Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has directed officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), to proceed to Saudi Arabia with immediate effect to resolve outstanding accommodation challenges ahead of the 2026 Hajj.

According the directive, the Secretary of NAHCON, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Ali, the Chairman of the States’ Pilgrims Welfare Boards Forum, Alhaji Idris Almakura and NAHCON’s Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics and Library Services, Professor Abubakar Abubakar Yagawal have been authorized to travel to the Kingdom to urgently address the issues.

The move is aimed at ensuring timely arrangements and improved welfare for Nigerian pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, will remain in Nigeria to formally receive the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, who is expected in the country for a one-day official visit on February 3.

The visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia on Hajj and Umrah operations.
