Kano Pilgrims Board Inaugurates Hadaya Committee for 2026 Hajj

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has inaugurated a nine-member Hadaya Committee to coordinate and manage the Hadaya component for intending pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Board’s Conference Hall in Kano, where the Director General of the Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, formally charged committee members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, accountability, and strict adherence to the Board’s operational guidelines.
This was contained in a statement issued by Comrade Sulaiman Dederi, Public Relations Officer of the Board. According to him, Danbappa explained that Hadaya is a compulsory act of worship (Ibadah) for pilgrims performing Tamattu’i and Qirani rites, stressing that proper registration through the committee remains the most secure and reliable channel for pilgrims to fulfil the obligation.
He noted that the initiative was designed to streamline the process, eliminate uncertainties, and protect pilgrims from potential exploitation.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, urged committee members to leverage their collective experience to deliver a transparent, efficient, and credible Hadaya management framework that aligns with best practices.
Responding on behalf of the committee, its Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Kabir Yusuf, disclosed that engagements have already commenced with two companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the procurement of rams at competitive and affordable rates for Kano pilgrims.
He further announced that pilgrims opting to pay for Hadaya in Nigerian currency would be required to pay N250,000, noting that the final cost remains subject to the prevailing Saudi Riyal exchange rate upon arrival in the Kingdom.
The Hadaya Committee comprises Alhaji Abdullahi Kabir Yusuf as Chairman; Sheikh Tijjani Sani Maihula, Sheikh Isma’il Ilyasu Mangu, Hajiya Batulu Isa Waziri, Hajiya Halima Aliyu, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar, Alhaji Habibu Idris Bichi, Alhaji Salisu Haruna Makoda as members; and Alhaji Umar Yakubu Kabara as Secretary.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a smooth, transparent, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all intending pilgrims from the state.
