Kano Pilgrims Board Deepens Security Alliance with Military Ahead of Hajj

The Kano State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has strengthened operational ties with security agencies in a move aimed at mitigating risks and ensuring a secure 2026 Hajj exercise.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, the initiative is part of the board’s intensified efforts to safeguard intending pilgrims from the state.
Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, reaffirmed this commitment during a courtesy visit by the Commander of the 3 Brigade, Kano, Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, at the Board’s headquarters.
He stated that building a robust security architecture remains a top priority since assuming office, with deliberate engagement across relevant agencies to guarantee the safety of pilgrims and their property.
Matawalle emphasized that proactive collaboration with the military and other security institutions is central to delivering a seamless and incident-free pilgrimage for Kano contingents.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Tukur said the visit was designed to reinforce institutional synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, underscoring the military’s readiness to support the Board’s mandate where necessary.
In a related engagement, the Director General hosted representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kankarofi Ward in Kano Municipal Local Government Area. During the visit, he facilitated access to Federal Government support forms aimed at enhancing welfare opportunities for constituents.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, APC Ward Chairman, Alhaji Sha’aibu Gambo, alongside the Chairman of Mai Taimako Organization, Alhaji Nura Bako, commended the Board’s leadership for its responsiveness and continued support.
Also, the Abba/Tinubu Support Organization, led by Sa’ad Sulaiman Gezawa, paid a similar courtesy visit, further reflecting growing stakeholder engagement around the Board’s activities.
The developments signal a coordinated approach by the Kano State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board to integrate security preparedness with broader stakeholder collaboration as preparations for the Hajj gather momentum.
