Kaduna Sets New Standard with World-Class Upgrade of Mando Hajj Transit Camp

Kaduna State is redefining Islamic pilgrimage preparation in Nigeria with the ongoing transformation of the Hajj Transit Camp in Mando, a project widely seen as a bold step toward world-class service delivery for intending pilgrims.
The comprehensive remodelling, spearheaded by the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency under the leadership of its Chairman, Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, reflects a renewed commitment by the administration of Governor Uba Sani to place the comfort, dignity and spiritual readiness of pilgrims at the heart of Hajj operations.
Once known mainly as a brief stopover point, the Mando camp is being repositioned as a modern pre-departure hub where pilgrims can rest, prepare and complete necessary procedures in a calm and well-organised environment before travelling to Saudi Arabia.
Key aspects of the upgrade include fully refurbished accommodation facilities designed to meet higher standards of hygiene and comfort, restructured operational areas to speed up documentation and reduce waiting time, as well as expanded halls dedicated to orientation and sensitisation programmes for pilgrims.
According to the Agency, emphasis is also being placed on administrative efficiency and early preparation. Sensitisation programmes are already underway to ensure pilgrims are adequately informed about both the spiritual obligations of Hajj and the practical requirements of the journey.
The early commencement of the project is part of a deliberate plan to make the 2026 Hajj exercise the smoothest in Kaduna’s history. By starting preparations well ahead of schedule, the state hopes to eliminate recurring logistical challenges and guarantee a stress-free experience for pilgrims.
Governor Uba Sani has repeatedly stressed that Hajj operations go beyond logistics, describing the pilgrimage as a significant spiritual milestone for the people of Kaduna State.
“Our objective is to provide dignified pilgrimages that truly reflect the values, care, and hospitality of Kaduna State,” the governor said.
The Pilgrims Welfare Agency credited the governor’s sustained financial and moral support as the driving force behind the ongoing improvements, noting that the initiative is fast positioning Kaduna as a reference point for efficient, state-led Hajj management in Nigeria.
As the remodelling approaches completion, the upgraded Mando Hajj Transit Camp stands as a clear symbol of Kaduna State’s pilgrim-first philosophy—promising a future where the journey to the Holy Land begins in comfort, order and spiritual fulfilment.
