By Abdulrazaq Auwal
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has scheduled a high-level coordination meeting with State Pilgrims Welfare Boards (SPWBs) and licensed tour operator companies as part of ongoing preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
According to an internal notice issued on Thursday, the meeting is slated for today, January 22, 2026, and will commence promptly at 2:00 p.m. at the Conference Hall, Hajj House, Abuja.
The notice, which was sighted by Hajj Gazette, directed NAHCON staff and other officials to attend, underscoring the strategic importance of the engagement.
The meeting is expected to focus on critical aspects of Hajj planning, including coordination between NAHCON, state welfare boards, and private tour operators, as well as early alignment on operational frameworks for the pilgrimage.
According to some stakeholders consulted by Hajj Gazette, the engagement is part of NAHCON’s broader effort to ensure seamless collaboration among all actors involved in Hajj operations, particularly in areas such as logistics, service delivery, pilgrim welfare, and regulatory compliance.
With preparations for the 2026 Hajj gradually gathering momentum, the meeting is seen as a key platform for setting priorities, addressing emerging challenges, and reinforcing institutional synergy between the commission, states, and the private sector.
No further details were immediately provided on the agenda beyond Hajj preparations, but outcomes from the meeting are expected to shape subsequent planning activities in the coming weeks.
