Hajj 2027: Operators demand disclosure of disqualified tour companies

The Association for Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) has asked the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to disclose the names of tour operators that failed to qualify for the 2027 Hajj operation and the reasons for their disqualification.
AHUON made the request in a letter addressed to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, following the commission’s release of the list of qualified tour operator companies on 26 August 2026.
While commending NAHCON for releasing the list ahead of the 2027 pilgrimage, the association said the publication did not include companies that were unsuccessful in the qualification exercise.
AHUON said the absence of the disqualification list and the reasons for the decisions raised concerns about transparency in the qualification process.
The association urged NAHCON to publish the names of companies that were disqualified or otherwise failed to meet the requirements for Hajj 2027, as well as the specific reasons for each decision.
Transparency
According to AHUON, disclosure of the information would enable affected companies to understand the deficiencies identified during the assessment and take steps to address them in subsequent applications.
The association also said the information would help other operators better understand NAHCON’s qualification requirements and improve compliance with the commission’s standards.
“Transparency, fairness, accountability, and professionalism” are essential to the ongoing reforms in the Hajj industry, the association said in its letter.
AHUON said publishing the information would also help strengthen confidence in the qualification process and promote greater accountability among stakeholders in the sector.
The association’s request comes as preparations for Hajj 2027 begin, with tour operators and other stakeholders expected to finalise arrangements ahead of the annual pilgrimage.
