More than 1.2 million Libyan citizens have applied for the Hajj 2027 lottery as the country closed registration through its official “Hujjaj” digital platform.

Libya’s General Authority for Hajj and Umrah Affairs said a total of 1,209,306 applications were recorded before registration closed, reflecting the strong demand for places among prospective pilgrims.

The authority published the final registration figures on Monday, September 21, 2026, showing that 670,419 men and 538,782 women applied for the pilgrimage.

Applicants aged above 65 accounted for 157,894 of the total registrations.

The figures also showed that the mobile application was the preferred registration channel, with 759,232 applications submitted through the Hujjaj app, compared with 449,969 through the official website.

The mobile platform therefore attracted more than 300,000 additional applications than the website during the registration period.

The authority also recorded 29,453 cancellations before the registration process ended.

The Hujjaj platform allows Libyan citizens to complete their Hajj lottery applications online through official digital channels, eliminating the need for physical registration at the initial stage.

The authority said the digital platform forms part of efforts to simplify the application process and improve services for prospective pilgrims.

With more than 1.2 million people seeking places, the number of successful applicants will depend on Libya’s available Hajj quota and the outcome of the lottery.

The final registration figures underline the significant demand for Hajj places in Libya, where the lottery system is used to select pilgrims from among eligible applicants.

The authority is expected to proceed with the selection process following the closure of registration, with successful applicants to be identified in accordance with the established procedures for Hajj 2027.
