Hajj 2026: Makkah Launches Food Truck Licensing with Three-Day Deadline Window
By Faiza Musa Adamu
Authorities in Makkah have opened applications for seasonal food truck licenses ahead of the 2026 Hajj, introducing strict compliance timelines as part of efforts to streamline service delivery during the pilgrimage.
The Holy Capital Municipality announced that the licensing window officially commenced on May 5, 2026, inviting qualified operators to participate in providing regulated food services to millions of pilgrims expected for the annual exercise.
Under the new framework, applicants must complete all documentation within three days of submission.
Authorities warned that failure to meet the deadline will result in automatic disqualification, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to procedural delays.
In addition to documentation requirements, licensed operators will be restricted to designated locations and approved activities as specified in their permits.
The municipality emphasized that strict adherence to these conditions is critical to maintaining operational order, public safety, and efficient service delivery across key pilgrimage zones.
The directive forms part of a broader regulatory strategy aimed at enhancing the quality, accessibility, and coordination of food services during Hajj.
Officials noted that tighter controls are necessary to manage the scale and complexity of logistics associated with the influx of pilgrims.
With preparations intensifying for Hajj 2026, the licensing initiative underscores the municipality’s focus on structured private-sector participation while reinforcing compliance standards across all service providers.
