Hajj 2026: Health Officials Inspect Kaduna Pilgrims Camp, Stress Disease Prevention Measures

The Federal Ministry of Health on Monday inspected facilities at the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency as part of efforts to ensure a safe and hitch-free Hajj operation.
The delegation, led by the Director of Port Health Services, Mrs Bilkisu Idris Jibril, visited the agency’s headquarters and proceeded to the Hajj Transit Camp in Mando, where they assessed the level of preparedness ahead of the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Officials inspected accommodation areas, medical units, sanitation systems, water supply and the general environment of the camp to determine compliance with public health standards.
Mrs Jibril said the visit was part of a nationwide exercise to ensure that all Hajj transit facilities meet required health regulations before pilgrims are airlifted.
“Port Health Services plays a vital role in safeguarding public health, especially during international travels like Hajj. Our responsibility is to ensure that all transit camps are hygienic, safe and fully compliant with both national and international health standards,” she said.
She added that preventing the spread of infectious diseases across borders remains a key priority.
“We carry out thorough health screenings and environmental assessments because it is important to protect not just the pilgrims, but the general public as well,” she added.
The delegation commended the Kaduna pilgrims agency for what it described as a satisfactory level of preparedness, noting that most of the facilities inspected were in good condition, while urging continuous improvement.
The Executive Chairman of the agency, Salihu S. Abubakar, said the state was committed to ensuring a seamless Hajj exercise.
“We appreciate this visit by the Federal Ministry of Health. It strengthens our resolve to maintain high standards in all our operations,” he said.
“The health and well-being of our pilgrims remain our top priority, and we will continue to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure full compliance with established guidelines.”
The inspection forms part of federal efforts to ensure that all states meet the necessary requirements for the safe movement of pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.
