Gombe Governor Urges Pilgrims to Uphold Discipline, Pray for Peace

Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has called on intending pilgrims from the state to conduct themselves in a law-abiding manner and serve as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria during the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Governor Yahya made the appeal while bidding farewell to the pilgrims ahead of their departure to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to State Government (SSG) Prof. Abubakar Njodi at the farewell ceremony, stressed the importance of discipline, unity, and adherence to the laws and rules guiding hajj pilgrimage.
He urged the pilgrims to remain focused on the spiritual significance of the Hajj, avoid any actions that could tarnish the image of the state and the country, and demonstrate exemplary character throughout their stay.
Governor Yahaya also urged the pilgrims to pray for sustained peace, stability, and development in Gombe State and Nigeria, emphasizing that such supplications remain critical to the nation’s continued progress and unity.
He assured them of the government’s commitment to their welfare and emphasized that the state has made adequate arrangements to guarantee a smooth and hitch-free pilgrimage.
He further advised the pilgrims to cooperate with officials of the state pilgrims’ board and adhere strictly to all guidelines provided to guarantee a successful Hajj exercise.
Providing an operational update, the Executive Secretary of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sa’adu Hassan, disclosed that the first and second flights will depart from Gombe International Airport Lawanti on Monday and Tuesday, conveying a total of 965 intending pilgrims.
He assured them of the government’s commitment to their welfare and emphasized that the state has made adequate arrangements to ensure a smooth and hitch-free pilgrimage.
