Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has departed Madinah for Makkah to continue the Umrah pilgrimage, following an overnight stay in the Prophet’s city.
The former vice president, who is accompanied by members of his entourage, was sighted en route to Makkah as part of the prescribed rites of the lesser pilgrimage, which involves visits to key holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
The transition from Madinah to Makkah marks the next phase of the Umrah exercise, during which pilgrims perform core spiritual obligations at the Masjid al-Haram and surrounding sacred locations.
Umrah, while not compulsory like Hajj, remains a significant act of worship in Islam and is undertaken by millions of Muslims from around the world throughout the year.
