The Bauchi State Government has announced a comprehensive welfare and medical support framework for 2,090 intending pilgrims as they prepare to depart for the 2026 Hajj, positioning service delivery and pilgrim safety as the core focus of this year’s operation.

Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed this at the official farewell ceremony in Bauchi, stating that the state had concluded all logistical, health, and accommodation arrangements to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.

According to the governor, airlift operations will commence from Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, with designated airlines already engaged for the exercise.

He confirmed that all pilgrims received meningitis and yellow fever vaccinations in line with international health regulations, eliminating last-minute compliance risks.

To strengthen health security, the government has deployed medical teams to provide continuous care at the pilgrims’ camp, during transit, and throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.

He said the intervention mitigates health-related disruptions and guarantees rapid response capability.

On welfare provisioning, Mohammed said the state has approved structured feeding arrangements, including regular meals at the camp and during the pilgrimage, alongside the distribution of essential items such as blankets and prayer mats as well as a special gift.

He added that the government has secured accommodation within close proximity to the Grand Mosque in Makkah, reducing mobility stress and improving access to core religious activities.

The Hajj delegation will be led by the Amirul-Hajj, the Emir of Misau, supported by a team of officials responsible for operational coordination and pilgrim support services.

The governor emphasized that the 2026 Hajj operation reflects a deliberate shift towards improved service standards, with government prioritizing comfort, safety, and efficiency in line with evolving pilgrimage management benchmarks.

He urged the pilgrims to uphold discipline, comply with Saudi regulations, and represent Bauchi State and Nigeria responsibly throughout the exercise.

The 2026 Hajj is expected to draw millions of Muslims from across the world, with Nigerian contingents already advancing phased airlift operations.
