2026 Hajj: NAHCON Commissioner Inspects ICT Facilities, Declares Data Capture Readiness
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has intensified preparations for the 2026 Hajj with a strong focus on technology-driven efficiency.
To this end, the Commissioner in charge of Policy, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), Prof. Abubakar Abubakar Yagawal, on Tuesday inspected the Commission’s ICT Division to assess readiness for the pilgrims’ data capture exercise.
The visit aimed to confirm that all systems required for registration and visa processing are fully operational. During the inspection, Prof. Yagawal examined computer systems, biometric devices and network infrastructure that will support the exercise.
Meanwhile, the Head of the ICT Division and key technical staff briefed the Commissioner on ongoing preparations. They explained the steps taken to ensure a smooth and error-free process.
Speaking during the visit, Prof. Yagawal stressed that accuracy, security and speed must guide the entire data capture operation. According to him, reliable data remains the backbone of a successful Hajj exercise.
“I am satisfied with the level of preparedness I have seen today,” he said. “We will continue to use technology to deliver a seamless and transparent process for Nigerian pilgrims. Therefore, the ICT team must maintain professionalism and resolve any technical issues without delay.”
Furthermore, the Commissioner noted that early preparation would reduce future challenges and enhance service delivery.
Also speaking, Mr. Saminu Babandede, who supervises the data capture exercise, assured the Commissioner of the team’s full readiness. He added that the ICT unit remains committed to completing the exercise within the approved timeline.
Overall, the inspection reflects NAHCON’s determination to improve operational standards ahead of the 2026 Hajj. As preparations advance, the Commission remains focused on delivering an efficient, secure and pilgrim-friendly registration process nationwide.
