The Imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Juhani, has condemned the Houthi militia’s attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, describing it as a criminal act that endangers innocent civilians and pilgrims.

Al-Juhani made the condemnation during today’s Friday sermon at Masjid Al-Haram, where he also urged Muslims to observe their daily prayers at the prescribed times and seek Allah’s help during hardship.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Imam denounced the attack as a violation of human life and an act of corruption that threatens the safety of innocent people.

He called on Muslims to strengthen their faith and uphold their religious obligations, stressing that prayer remains central to a believer’s relationship with Allah.

Al-Juhani described prayer as the second pillar of Islam and emphasised its importance in determining the righteousness of a Muslim’s deeds.

He said regular prayer provides spiritual comfort and strength during periods of distress, trials and adversity, urging worshippers to remain steadfast in their devotion to Allah.

The Imam also cautioned against superstition and pessimism associated with particular days, months or years, reminding Muslims that benefit and harm ultimately rest with Allah and that events occur according to His divine decree.

In his concluding supplications, Al-Juhani prayed for Saudi Arabia’s protection and stability, the defeat of aggressors and the safety of the country’s armed forces.

The sermon comes amid regional security concerns over threats to civilian infrastructure and the safety of travellers, including international pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia for religious purposes.

The address combined a call for stronger religious commitment with a condemnation of violence, highlighting the need to protect human life and preserve security.
