Nigerian Muslims planning to perform the 2027 Hajj have been urged to closely follow the official Saudi Hajj calendar, which outlines critical deadlines that will shape preparations for the pilgrimage.

The calendar, released by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, provides a structured timeline for Hajj missions, pilgrims and service providers, ensuring that all preparations are completed well ahead of the annual pilgrimage.

One of the earliest milestones is September 26, 2026, which marks the deadline for completing Hajj registration and finalizing pilgrims’ records.

Authorities have advised intending pilgrims to register early through their respective State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies or licensed Hajj operators to avoid missing the deadline.

Following the registration phase, visa processing is expected to conclude on January 28, 2027. Pilgrims are encouraged to complete all documentation, medical requirements and biometric procedures well before the closing date to prevent delays.

The official airlift of pilgrims is scheduled to commence on April 8, 2027, with outbound flights expected to continue in phases until all approved pilgrims arrive in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia before the commencement of Hajj rites.

The Saudi calendar also includes timelines for accommodation arrangements, transportation contracts, catering services and other operational activities that participating Hajj missions must complete within specified periods.

Stakeholders believe strict adherence to the calendar will improve planning, reduce last-minute challenges and enhance service delivery throughout the pilgrimage.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has consistently encouraged State Pilgrims Welfare Boards and private tour operators to comply with Saudi deadlines, noting that timely registration and documentation remain essential to securing pilgrims’ travel approvals.

Prospective pilgrims have also been advised to make payments only through approved channels, complete all medical screening requirements promptly and maintain regular contact with their respective Hajj administrators for updates.

Compliance with the Saudi timetable is expected to contribute significantly to a smoother, more organized and successful 2027 Hajj exercise for Nigerian pilgrims.
