The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has expressed condolences to the family of Mallama Aishatu Muhammadu, a 73-year-old pilgrim from Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, who died in Saudi Arabia during the 2026 Hajj exercise.

NAHCON disclosed that the pilgrim died on May 10, 2026, after suffering a cardiac arrest while travelling from Jeddah to the holy city of Madinah.

The Chairman of the Commission, Amb. Ismail Abba Yusuf, conveyed the Federal Government’s condolences during a telephone conversation with the deceased’s brother, Umaru Jauro Koko.

Amb. Yusuf prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the late Mallama Aishatu Aljannatul Firdaus and also prayed for the family to have the strength to bear the loss.

He assured the family that the government would facilitate the safe return of the deceased’s personal belongings, including her Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) and death certificate, through the Adamawa State Pilgrims Welfare Commission.

The late Mallama Aishatu is survived by children, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Among her surviving relatives is Abdullahi Bello, Divisional Officer of the Ganye Division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

NAHCON Management extended prayers for the repose of her soul and comfort for the bereaved family.
