The Borno State Hajj Commission has commenced the distribution of bags and uniforms to intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj, signaling a key milestone in the state’s preparations for the annual pilgrimage.

The flag-off ceremony, held in Maiduguri, marked the official rollout of essential travel kits to pilgrims across the state’s local government areas.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad, the Information Officer of the Hajj Commission.

Speaking during the event, Chairman of the Distribution Committee, Alhaji Ali Kaka, described the exercise as a critical component of the Commission’s operational framework for the 2026 Hajj.

While welcoming dignitaries and participants to the event, the chairman prayed for a seamless and successful pilgrimage.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Commission, Professor Yunusa Musa Yakubu, commended stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation.

He charged fare collectors and distribution officials to deliver all items to beneficiaries in good condition, stressing accountability and efficiency.

Yakubu also underscored the need for equity in the distribution process, directing officials to ensure all intending pilgrims receive their allocated kits promptly and without discrimination, regardless of their local government of origin.

The event featured the symbolic presentation of the 2026 Hajj materials by the Distribution Committee Chairman alongside senior management staff of the Commission, formally signaling the commencement of the exercise.

In separate remarks, the Vice Chairman of the Commission and the Zonal Coordinator representing the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) lauded the committee and management team for their diligence, describing the distribution process as timely and well-coordinated.

The initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to delivering a structured and hitch-free Hajj operation for pilgrims from Borno State.
