Hajj 2026 International Flights Commence April 18 as Pilgrimage Season Begins

International airlift operations for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage are set to commence on April 18, marking the official start of this year’s global movement of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
According to the outlined schedule, the first batch of pilgrims will arrive in the Kingdom between April 18 and May 21, as countries begin coordinated airlift operations to transport millions of faithful for the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
Pakistan will be among the first nations to kick off its Hajj operations, with four inaugural flights scheduled to depart simultaneously on April 18.
The flights will originate from major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Multan, all bound for Madinah, where pilgrims traditionally begin their spiritual rites.
Meanwhile, Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, will commence its Hajj airlift on April 22, further reinforcing the scale and global coordination involved in the pilgrimage exercise.
In West Africa, Nigeria is expected to begin its airlift operations in the latter part of April, with flights projected to run through May in phases.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is finalizing deployment timelines across designated embarkation centres nationwide, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s entry window to ensure orderly transportation of pilgrims.
Industry stakeholders note that Nigeria’s staggered airlift model is designed to optimize aircraft utilization, manage passenger flow, and mitigate operational bottlenecks at both departure and arrival points.
The phased arrival of pilgrims underscores extensive logistical planning by participating countries and Saudi authorities to ensure a smooth, safe, and orderly Hajj operation.
With flight schedules now confirmed and airlift operations set in motion, the Hajj 2026 season is officially underway, as millions of Muslims across the globe prepare to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam.
