The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has directed all intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj to submit their valid international passports to the Agency on or before the end of August 2026.

The Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar JJ, issued the directive on Sunday during a meeting with Hajj Assistant Registration Officers representing the 23 Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.

Ibrahim said the number of intending pilgrims whose passport details are successfully uploaded onto the Saudi Arabian Masair digital portal, alongside registration and payment of initial deposits, would be critical to determining Sokoto State’s 2027 Hajj quota.

He warned that payment of the required initial deposit does not automatically guarantee participation in the 2027 pilgrimage, stressing that intending pilgrims must also submit their international passports promptly to complete the required registration and documentation processes.

According to him, the emphasis on early documentation followed some of the challenges encountered during the 2026 Hajj operation, making it necessary for the Agency to strengthen preparations ahead of the 2027 pilgrimage.

The Permanent Secretary urged intending pilgrims who have already paid their initial deposits to submit their passports without further delay.

He also directed the Hajj Assistant Registration Officers to intensify sensitisation campaigns across the state and ensure that prospective pilgrims in all 23 local government areas understand the importance of meeting the passport submission deadline.

Ibrahim reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to delivering a smooth and efficient 2027 Hajj operation, urging intending pilgrims to cooperate with the registration process and comply with all documentation requirements within the stipulated timeline.

The Agency said early submission of passports would support timely processing of pilgrims’ data and improve Sokoto State’s readiness for the 2027 Hajj.
