2027 Hajj: Registration Requirements for Intending Pilgrims

Intending pilgrims seeking to participate in the 2027 Hajj through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) have been advised to meet a number of financial, administrative and medical requirements to secure their pilgrimage slots.
Hajj Gazette compiled the key requirements intending pilgrims must meet based on the guidelines issued by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
The requirements reflect Saudi Arabia’s stricter planning schedule, which requires participating countries to complete registration, payments and documentation months before the pilgrimage.
One of the major conditions is the payment of an initial deposit. Several State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards have already commenced registration with deposit benchmarks ranging between N4 million and N8 million.
The Hajj Gazette findings also show that all payments must be made through approved commercial banks. Intending pilgrims have been warned against making cash payments to unauthorized agents or individuals, as only official payment channels will be accepted.
2027 Hajj: Registration Requirements for Intending Pilgrims
Most states have also fixed registration deadlines around late September 2026 to align with Saudi Arabia’s deadline for concluding Hajj preparations.
Applicants are required to possess a valid Nigerian international passport with sufficient validity beyond the expected travel period.
They must also submit a completed guarantor declaration form endorsed by a recognized guarantor acceptable to their respective State Pilgrims Welfare Boards.
Medical fitness remains another mandatory requirement. Intending pilgrims must obtain certification confirming they are physically, mentally and medically fit for the pilgrimage through a qualified physician in a recognized government hospital.
Mandatory vaccinations, including meningitis and any other immunizations prescribed by Saudi authorities, will also be required before departure.
In addition, applicants must be practicing Muslims with basic knowledge of Hajj rites, while female pilgrims are expected to provide details of a genuine Mahram or an authorized representative, supported by valid documentary evidence, in line with Saudi and NAHCON regulations.
