2027 Hajj: Edo Uploads 282 Pilgrims as NAHCON Portal Closes
By Abdulmumin Aliu
The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has successfully uploaded the details of all 282 registered intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) portal before the expiration of the registration deadline.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, disclosed this in an interview, assuring that the state complied with the deadline set by NAHCON and successfully uploaded the details of all pilgrims who had been registered.
According to him, the successful completion of the upload represents a significant step in the state’s preparations for the 2027 Hajj exercise, while efforts are continuing to secure additional slots for intending pilgrims.
“Yes, we were able to meet the deadline and uploaded all the registered pilgrims,” the Executive Secretary said.
However, he identified the completion of payment by some intending pilgrims as one of the major challenges currently facing the Board.
He explained that while some pilgrims had made part payments towards the Hajj fare, they were yet to complete their outstanding balances.
The Executive Secretary said the affected pilgrims must complete their payments by Monday, warning that the Board could withdraw their names from the NAHCON portal if they fail to meet the deadline.
He explained that the measure became necessary because there are still intending pilgrims who have made payments but have not yet secured slots, making it imperative for the Board to ensure that available slots are occupied by pilgrims who are ready and financially committed to the exercise.

“We gave them an ultimatum to complete their payment by Monday; otherwise, they risk having their names replaced on the portal because there are still pilgrims who have not gotten slots yet,” he said.
The Executive Secretary further disclosed that the Board adopted a first-come, first-served approach in uploading the details of intending pilgrims, in line with the available slots and payment status.
Despite the challenges, Muhammadkabir described the successful upload of the 282 registered pilgrims before the NAHCON deadline as one of the major achievements recorded so far in the state’s preparation for the 2027 Hajj.
He expressed optimism that Edo State would receive additional slots as the preparations progress, which could provide an opportunity for more intending pilgrims who are yet to secure slots to participate in the pilgrimage.
“We were able to meet the NAHCON deadline, and we are hoping for more slots,” he added.
The Executive Secretary urged intending pilgrims who are yet to complete their payments to take advantage of the ultimatum and settle their outstanding balances within the stipulated period to avoid losing their places.
He assured that the Board would continue to work closely with NAHCON and take all necessary steps to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj operation for Edo pilgrims.
The development comes as preparations for the 2027 Hajj continue nationwide following the closure of the NAHCON portal for the uploading of intending pilgrims’ details.
