2026 Hajj: No Nigerian Pilgrim Will Travel Without Secured Accommodation – NAHCON Chairman

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Yusuf Abba, has declared that no Nigerian pilgrim will depart the country for the 2026 Hajj without confirmed and secured accommodation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He made the commitment during a high-level virtual coordination meeting with Saudi authorities, stressing that the Commission has strengthened its operational alignment with service providers to eliminate logistical gaps experienced in previous years.
The assurance comes amid ongoing visa processing and flight scheduling arrangements, as Nigeria works against the statutory deadline for completion of Hajj documentation.
The NAHCON Chairman emphasized that accommodation confirmation, particularly in Madinah has been fully integrated into the travel clearance framework to prevent cases of pilgrims arriving without verified lodging.
According to him, departure clearance will be strictly tied to proof of secured housing, with flight manifests synchronized against confirmed accommodation slots.
He noted that enhanced coordination with Saudi service providers and the Ministry of Hajj has positioned Nigeria to execute a seamless operation.
The Saudi side underscored the need for full alignment between airlift schedules and accommodation bookings to avoid congestion and operational disruptions.
In response, NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to disciplined planning, regulatory compliance, and strict adherence to timelines.
The Chairman further stated that the Commission’s internal monitoring mechanisms have been reinforced to ensure that no airline uplift occurs without complete documentation covering visa issuance, health certification, and housing allocation.
With visa processing ongoing and grouping of pilgrims nearing completion, NAHCON maintains that safeguarding the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims and protecting the country’s reputation remain non-negotiable priorities.
The 2026 Hajj coordination meetings between NAHCON and Saudi authorities are expected to continue weekly until all operational benchmarks are fully achieved.
