2026 Hajj: NAHCON Assures Pilgrims of Hitch-Free Exercise, Begins Early Groundwork

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assured intending pilgrims of a smooth and hitch-free 2026 Hajj exercise, announcing that early groundwork and critical preparatory activities are already underway.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, said the Commission has activated proactive planning mechanisms aimed at eliminating operational delays and improving service delivery for Nigerian pilgrims.

According to him, the Chairman stated that NAHCON is aligning all preparations with the policy direction of the Federal Government under President Tinubu’ Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes the welfare and spiritual well-being of Nigerians.
Professor Usman noted that the Commission operates under the supervision of Vice President Kashim Shettima, with a clear focus on the timely completion of all key Hajj arrangements.
He disclosed that priority is being placed on the early conclusion of pilgrims’ accommodation arrangements in Makkah in strict compliance with Saudi Arabian regulatory timelines, describing early action as critical to guaranteeing certainty, comfort, and operational stability during the Hajj.
As part of measures to consolidate preparations, the NAHCON Chairman announced the deployment of a high-level executive delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to finalize and take over all pending accommodation arrangements.
The delegation is expected to provide executive oversight, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate potential logistical risks.
He said the team, comprising senior management and Board members of the Commission, has been mandated to conclude all accommodation processes and submit a comprehensive report immediately after completing the assignment.
Professor Usman further stated that NAHCON has strengthened its internal governance, coordination, and oversight frameworks to ensure accountability, procedural compliance, and effective execution of all preparatory activities.
This, he said, includes sustained engagement with Board members, service providers, and relevant Saudi authorities to ensure adherence to approved timelines and operational standards.
Emphasizing the Commission’s statutory role, the NAHCON boss said all decisions guiding the 2026 Hajj preparations are institutional and collective, driven by due process and the obligation to protect the interests of Nigerian pilgrims while preserving Nigeria’s long-standing bilateral relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He assured stakeholders and intending pilgrims that NAHCON remains focused on delivering a well-coordinated 2026 Hajj by strengthening its systems, improving planning discipline, and enhancing professionalism across all aspects of Hajj management in line with international best practices.
Professor Usman added that the Commission will continue to provide official updates through its established communication channels as preparations for the 2026 Hajj progress.
