2026 Hajj: Kebbi Governor Cleared Medically Ahead of Pilgrimage

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) has successfully undergone a comprehensive medical screening in line with regulations issued by the Saudi Arabian Health Authority and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), as part of preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The screening was conducted by a team of medical professionals led by the Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu Yaro (Enabo).
According to a statement issued by Special Adviser to the Governor on New Media, Aliyu Bandado Argungu, the exercise involved detailed laboratory investigations and physical assessments, after which the Governor was certified medically fit to undertake the pilgrimage to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
Speaking after the exercise, Alhaji Yaro commended Governor Idris for his consistent support to Kebbi State pilgrims, noting that such commitment had translated into the state’s strong performance in previous Hajj exercises.
He described Kebbi pilgrims as among the best in the country, attributing the achievement to the Governor’s leadership and sustained focus on pilgrims’ welfare.
The leader of the medical team, Dr. Abdullahi Yusuf, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in the team, assuring that comprehensive and quality medical services would be provided to all Kebbi State pilgrims during the Hajj.
In his remarks, Governor Idris lauded the leadership and experience of Alhaji Yaro in Hajj administration, stating that his appointment was a deliberate strategic decision aimed at delivering efficient and hitch-free Hajj operations.
He also charged members of the medical team to remain professional, diligent, and committed, stressing that pilgrims’ health and safety remain a top priority of his administration.
Earlier on Sunday, the medical team also conducted screenings for the Governor’s wives, Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris and Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris.
Members of the medical team included medical doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists, and pharmacists, who ensured strict compliance with the health standards prescribed for the 2026 Hajj operations.
