2026 Hajj: Jigawa Begins Second Refund, Pays Pilgrims N7,311 Each

The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the distribution of N7,311 excess fare refunds to each eligible pilgrim who participated in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, flagged off the disbursement on Thursday at the board’s headquarters in Dutse, directing zonal officers to begin immediate distribution across the state.
Labbo stated that the decentralised payment arrangement was designed to ensure that pilgrims receive their refunds promptly through the board’s various zonal offices.
The latest payment represents the second refund issued by the Jigawa pilgrims’ agency to 2026 Hajj pilgrims.
About two months ago, the board refunded more than N53,000 to each pilgrim, following adjustments arising from the 2026 Hajj operations.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Labbo commended the board’s staff for their dedication and commitment to the welfare of pilgrims, while stressing the importance of accountability in the management of pilgrims’ funds.

He reaffirmed the board’s commitment to transparency, integrity and social justice, assuring pilgrims and the wider public that the agency would not retain any money belonging to beneficiaries.
“Not a single kobo belonging to any pilgrim will be withheld,” Labbo said, according to a statement signed by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Habibu Yusuf Babura.
The latest refund comes as state pilgrims’ welfare agencies continue to reconcile accounts and process financial adjustments arising from the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The board said the zonal distribution would continue to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries across Jigawa receive the approved refund.
