2026 Hajj: Edo Board Urges Early Preparation, as Ramadan Falls in February

The Edo State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board has called on intending pilgrims from the state to commence early preparations for the 2026 Hajj, citing an accelerated operational timeline due to the expected occurrence of Ramadan in February 2026.
The Chairman of the Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, made the appeal in a statement issued by Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammad, the on Friday in Benin City.
He explained that the early placement of Ramadan will push Hajj-related activities forward, making timely readiness critical for prospective pilgrims.
Uduimoh urged intending pilgrims to use the advance notice to complete all mandatory requirements, including the processing of international passports, fulfillment of medical conditions, and completion of registration formalities, warning that delays could result in avoidable complications.
He noted that early preparation would not only reduce administrative pressure but also allow pilgrims to prepare adequately on spiritual, physical, and financial fronts.
According to him, it would equally enable the Board to plan efficiently for logistics, welfare services, and coordination with relevant national and international authorities involved in the Hajj operations.
The Chairman further disclosed that the Board is set to roll out a series of orientation programmes in the coming weeks to properly brief and guide intending pilgrims. He advised them to stay informed through official communications released via the Board’s recognised channels.
Reaffirming the Board’s mandate, Uduimoh assured pilgrims of its commitment to delivering a smooth, well-structured, and spiritually rewarding Hajj experience for all participants from Edo State.
He also appealed for strict adherence to laid-down guidelines and full public cooperation to ensure the success of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
