Intending pilgrims from Yobe State have converged at the headquarters of the Yobe State Pilgrims Commission as final preparations intensify ahead of their scheduled airlift to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Officials of the commission are currently concluding critical pre-departure processes, including documentation verification, medical screening, logistics coordination, and briefing sessions designed to ensure compliance with national Hajj operational standards.
The exercise is being coordinated in line with directives aimed at ensuring efficiency, safety, and orderly movement of pilgrims to the designated departure point.
The pilgrims are expected to be transported to Maiduguri International Airport, from where they will board flights to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The state authorities have maintained that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to guarantee a smooth transition from the state assembly point to the departure terminal.
Many of the pilgrims expressed gratitude and spiritual excitement, describing the opportunity as a major milestone in their religious lives. They prayed for a successful pilgrimage, acceptance of their worship, and a safe return to their families after the completion of the Hajj rites.
The first batch of pilgrims from Yobe State is scheduled to depart on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, marking the official commencement of the state’s Hajj airlift operations.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by Ali Shitu Potiskum, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Yobe State on Pilgrims Commission Affairs.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a seamless and well-coordinated pilgrimage exercise.
